Google’s Search Algorithmn is changing

Gabe Galvez

Google’s search algorithm changes a lot. Here’s a timeline of every change since 2000. Usually this doesn’t impact the M&A and Private Equity space, but “Mobilegeddon” as its come to be known, will have an impact. In short, Google is curating their online experience to the ever-growing online mobile audience. To do this they’ve changed their algorithm as of April 21st and added “mobile-friendliness” as a SEO ranking signal.

If you don’t have a mobile friendly website, chances are you’re not showing up at the top of search results. If you’re not sure, click here to find out. We estimate that more than 50% of the websites in M&A and Private Equity are not mobile compliant to Google’s standard. This means that over the next few months hundreds of websites will loose significant ranking, giving a huge advantage to firms that have build their websites to this new standard.

So what can you do to adapt?

– Work with your web master to make your site mobile-friendly

– Rebuild your site and use this is an opportunity to revamp your brand online

– Let you search ranking fall and competitors easily reap the ranking advantage
