Who We Are
The CapTarget team started with a few investment bankers who wanted to adress two fundamental problems in the research and project selection models.
We noticed a big advantage in close rates when comparing firms that had full research departments to those that didn’t. It was easy to see – the successful firms invested heavily to access the best research talent and tools. To even the playing field, we set out on a mission to provide all firms with cost-effective access to the same quality research talent and tools. In doing so we found that our flexible, scalable research model saves all firms money – no matter the size – without sacrificing quality.
Another issue we found was that many startup entrepreneurs could not be serviced by middle market M&A firms due to budget restrictions. We never doubted the value-add that a good investment banking team adds to a capital raise, but sometimes the lack of resources on the client side gets in the way. One day we reviewed all the deals we’d turned away because the traditional M&A pricing model didn’t fit and we realized we’d left a lot of quality companies with nowhere to turn. This became the driving force behind our passion to develop a do-it-yourself model for early stage companies. The result is a cost effective service offering that allows those bold enough to go it alone access to the same resources used on much larger projects.
